  • Postcards I made a year ago and made small collections of as Christmas presents for my family members.  Each postcard has a stamp on it, my hope that my family might use the postcards to send to friends or whoever they like.  Some cards have been sent, some have been saved.  Glad I have my photos of them.

  • I like to doodle.  Generally my journal holds these little shapes that my hand’s mind creates- and this latest journal is lined, not typical for me.  While lines can be inhibiting, i actually enjoy the light blue color with the colored pencils in particular, and overall the lines cross-sectioning all the little beings that pour forth from the pen, marker, crayon, pencil, etc.

And sometimes doodles need inspiration.  Much of my inspiration in the past few years has come from a dear friend, Ellie Cross. Check out her work.

  • So.  one goes to see Where the Wild Things Are.  and you should go.  We went IMAX.  go big.  and then go home.  and build a fort.  cause that’s what the movie inspires.  here is evidence of the fort Brad, Olivia and I created: Fort Forte (or Fart Farte if you’re Brad)- it took over our whole living room and the furniture contained therein.

To enter it you did have to crawl through a corridor.  And that aerial shot of the fort required taking down one of the front covers which was quickly replaced, you had no idea upon entering what you were getting into.  Access to the snack den (the kitchen) was essential and possible through one low outlet which was fun to go through on the skateboard.  Lucy really made it the best when she showed up with ice cream- so necessary for energy after putting everything you have into the creation of FORT FORTE.

There will be more fort construction soon enough- it was so much fun and so easy to clean up (turns out flipping couches over is much easier as an adult than as a kid). So next time, you should come join.

  • A letter from Jesse Rosenbluth, my dear friend, with his watercolor of a beige delerosa as inspired by Jim Harrison.  Mail is an amazing way to lighten the day of another.
